Sean's former boss — who owns See See Motor Coffee in Portland, the Burnside shop that sits at the center of the city's motorcycle community — got him a vending slot at the One Moto Show, the annual event held under the Ross Island Bridge. Sean said yes before thinking through the obvious problem: he needed a motorcycle piece to bring.

He wanted to build one in glass. He went on Facebook Marketplace and found a $50 box of antique lamp parts two hours away, sitting in a trailer behind a 7-Eleven. He drove out, bought the box, and came home. Three days later, CC Thru was finished.

The name carries three meanings at once. CC as in engine displacement, the unit used to measure motorcycle power. See thru for the cut-glass body and crystal wheels that make the piece transparent where motorcycles are usually opaque. And See See, for the coffee shop and the boss who put Sean in front of a motorcycle audience in the first place.

Antique glass and brass lamp parts. Hand-carved reclaimed wood base with charred edge. No welding, no bending, no solder. Fully functional as a lamp. One of a kind.

The reclaimed wood base of this piece was sourced from Custom Cut Remodeling, a local woodworking shop in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Every Random Brass base is hand-carved by Sean from reclaimed material — wood that already had a life before it became part of a sculpture.
