Refund & Returns Policy

Every Random Brass piece is one of a kind, handmade, and fully functional. Because of that, this policy is a little different from what you might see on a standard retail site. Please read it carefully before purchasing.

All Sales Are Final

Every piece is built by hand from antique lamp parts and reclaimed wood, sourced and assembled specifically for that sculpture. No two pieces are alike, and once a piece leaves the workshop, it can't be remade or replaced. For that reason, all sales are final. We do not accept returns or exchanges on completed pieces.

We recommend reviewing all product photos, descriptions, and dimensions carefully before purchasing. If you have questions about a piece — finish, scale, weight, wattage, grounding, anything — please reach out to us at sdday8@gmail.com before placing your order. We'd rather answer ten questions than have a buyer feel uncertain after the fact.

Damage in Transit

Every Random Brass piece is custom-crated and fully insured for transit. If your piece arrives damaged:

  1. Take photos immediately of the packaging and the damage before unpacking further
  2. Save all original packaging materials — these are required for any insurance claim
  3. Contact us within 48 hours of delivery at [contact email] with photos and a description of the damage

We will work with the shipping carrier to file a claim and determine next steps. Depending on the extent of damage, options may include repair (if feasible), partial refund, or full refund through the shipping insurance. Sean handles each case personally.

Custom Commissions

Custom commissions are governed by separate terms agreed upon at the time of commission, including a non-refundable deposit. Please refer to the commission agreement signed at the start of the project. Commission deposits are not refundable once work has begun.

Defects or Functional Issues

Every piece is tested before it leaves the workshop. In the unlikely event that you receive a piece with a functional defect — for example, the lamp does not turn on as it should — please contact us within 14 days of delivery at sdday8@gmail.com. We will work with you to resolve the issue, which may include repair, replacement parts, or, in rare cases, a full refund at Sean's discretion.

Local Pickup

If you choose local pickup (Portland metro area), we encourage you to inspect the piece at pickup. Once a piece has been picked up and accepted in person, it is considered delivered as-is.
