Product Safety & Liability Disclaimer
Random Brass pieces are handmade, one-of-a-kind functional lamps assembled by artist Sean Day from antique and vintage lamp components. By purchasing a Random Brass piece, you agree to the following terms regarding use, installation, and liability.
Product Use
Every Random Brass piece is a fully functional electrical lamp intended for indoor decorative use only. Each piece is wired and tested before leaving the workshop. However, because every piece is handmade from antique and repurposed components, buyers should observe standard safety practices when using any Random Brass piece:
- Use only bulbs at or below the rated wattage specified for each piece. Wattage and voltage information is provided on the product page and on the piece itself.
- Do not leave pieces unattended while in use for extended periods.
- Do not modify, repair, or rewire any Random Brass piece without consultation. Modifications void all warranties and liability protections.
- Do not expose pieces to moisture, direct sunlight, or extreme temperatures. Random Brass pieces are intended for indoor use in climate-controlled environments.
- Do not use Random Brass pieces in commercial settings without consultation. Commercial installation may require additional electrical inspection or certification depending on local code.
- Inspect cords and connections periodically for wear, fraying, or damage. Discontinue use and contact us immediately if you notice any issue.
Installation
Wall-mounted Random Brass pieces should be installed by the buyer or a qualified professional using appropriate mounting hardware for the wall type and piece weight. Random Brass is not responsible for damage, injury, or loss resulting from improper installation. If you are unsure how to install a piece, we recommend consulting a licensed electrician or contractor.
Materials & Antique Components
Random Brass pieces are assembled from antique and vintage lamp components, including brass fittings, sockets, stems, and hardware sourced from a variety of secondhand and reclaimed origins. While every piece is rewired with modern electrical components and tested before shipment, buyers acknowledge that antique materials may carry inherent characteristics of age, including but not limited to patina, oxidation, minor surface wear, and small inconsistencies. These are part of the character of the work and are not defects.
Assumption of Risk
By purchasing and using a Random Brass piece, the buyer acknowledges that:
- The piece is a handmade artistic work, not a mass-produced consumer product
- The buyer assumes responsibility for safe use, installation, and ongoing maintenance
- The buyer will follow all safety guidance provided with the piece
- Random Brass, Sean Day, and any associated parties are not liable for damages, injuries, fire, electrical issues, or property loss resulting from the use, misuse, modification, or improper installation of any Random Brass piece
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Random Brass and Sean Day shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to the purchase or use of any Random Brass piece. The buyer's sole remedy in the event of a defect is limited to the terms outlined in the Refund and Returns Policy.
Compliance & Certifications
Random Brass pieces are handmade artistic works and are not UL-listed, ETL-certified, or otherwise certified by any electrical safety testing organization. Buyers in jurisdictions requiring electrical certification for residential or commercial lighting should review local codes before purchase or installation.
Indemnification
By purchasing a Random Brass piece, the buyer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Random Brass, Sean Day, and any associated parties from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from the buyer's use, installation, or modification of the piece.
Governing Law
This disclaimer is governed by the laws of the State of Oregon. Any disputes arising from the purchase or use of a Random Brass piece shall be resolved in the courts of Oregon.
