Shipping Policy

Every Random Brass piece is one of a kind, handmade, and fragile. We take shipping seriously because there's no second copy of any piece we ship. Here's how we handle it.

How We Ship

Random Brass pieces are shipped through a specialty fine art shipping service — the same category of carrier used by galleries, collectors, and professional artists. We don't ship through standard parcel carriers like USPS or FedEx Ground. The combination of weight, fragility, irregular shapes, and electrical components in our pieces requires custom crating and careful handling that standard shipping can't provide.

Specialty fine art shipping includes:

  • Custom crating built specifically for each piece, designed to protect against impact, vibration, and temperature changes during transit
  • Climate-controlled transport when needed for pieces with sensitive components
  • Tracking and signature confirmation for every shipment
  • Full insurance coverage for the declared value of the piece for the duration of transit
  • White-glove delivery options available for higher-value pieces, including in-home delivery and inside placement

Shipping Costs & Timelines

Because every Random Brass piece is unique in size, weight, and value, shipping is calculated individually after purchase. Within 48 hours of your order, we will contact you with a final shipping quote and an estimated delivery timeline based on your location and the piece you've purchased.

Typical fine art shipping rates range from $150 to $600+ within the continental United States, depending on piece size, distance, and service level. Larger or more fragile pieces may require crated freight, which carries higher costs and longer transit times. Most pieces deliver within 7 to 21 business days from the date of crating, though specialty crating may add additional time before transit begins.

If the shipping quote works for you, the order proceeds. If it doesn't, we will work with you on alternatives — including local pickup, alternate service levels, or, if necessary, cancellation and full refund of the piece price.

Local Pickup

If you are located in the Portland, Oregon metro area, local pickup is available at no cost. Pickup is by appointment, typically arranged within a few days of order confirmation. We will coordinate a meetup location convenient for both parties. This is often the best option for buyers who are nearby and want to avoid shipping costs entirely.

International Shipping

We currently ship within the United States. International shipping inquiries are welcome on a case-by-case basis — please contact us at sdday8@gmail.com before placing an order, and we will work with our shipping partner to provide a custom quote and assess feasibility. International orders may be subject to additional duties, taxes, and customs delays that are the responsibility of the buyer.

Insurance & Damage in Transit

Every shipped piece is fully insured for its declared value throughout transit. In the rare event that a piece arrives damaged, please refer to our Refund & Returns Policy for the steps to take. The short version: photograph the damage immediately, save all packaging materials, and contact us within 48 hours of delivery. We will handle the insurance claim process directly with the carrier.

Tracking

Once your piece ships, you will receive tracking information by email. For specialty fine art carriers, tracking may not update as frequently as standard parcel services, but every piece is monitored throughout its journey. If you have any questions about a shipment in progress, contact us at sdday8@gmail.com and we will follow up directly with the carrier.

A Note on Patience

Random Brass pieces aren't mass-produced, and we don't ship them like they are. The crating process alone can take several business days, and specialty carriers run on different schedules than standard parcel services. We ask buyers to plan ahead — particularly if the piece is intended as a gift — and we will always be transparent about timelines.

If you need a piece by a specific date, please reach out before placing your order. We'll let you know honestly whether the timeline is achievable.
